Home Styles
You should decorate to
Fit the Style of Your Home

It will be so beautiful
if you coordinate everything together.

The site isn't quite finished yet, but if you see something you like, send a email
or visit the blog to ask questions.

Glenn Hargreaves has won the
Salt Lake Parade of Homes six times.

He designs amazing homes.
All the homes along the bottom of my illustration
were designed by him. I'm the lucky one to be married to him!

Architectural Details

They add to the decoration. When these are built in there is less need of decoration. It's already beautiful.

Here are some layout sheets for you to use in collecting the samples to coordinate your color and texture choices when designing your home. It's good to take this with you when shopping to do color matching. If you would like to receive a pdf to print, EMAIL ME.

Analogous Color Scheme

Analogous Color Scheme

Colors next to  each other on the color wheel
This is a very easy color scheme to succeed at.
Split Complimentary Color Scheme

Split Complimentary Color Scheme

This is a very interesting and fun color scheme that you may enjoy working with.

Complimentary Color Scheme

These colors are opposites on the color wheel. Examples are;

    Blue and Orange
    Red and Green
Yellow and Purple
                                              Etc.
Color Schemes
Use your
Imagination

When choosing a color scheme don't be afraid of color. Don't have all the colors be the same weight and value. Pick a light, medium and dark color to create interest.

You can take your color scheme from objects you would like to be in the room:

A painting
A rug
A flower Arrangement
A throw or wall hanging
A favorite piece of furniture

12 step Color Wheel
To start with, I thought you might like to see a
 Color Wheel

It will help to make everything I say make sense.
There are lots of beautiful color schemes I am going to tell you about and this will help make it easier to understand.

The Primary colors are Red, Yellow and Blue.

The Secondary colors are Orange, Green and Purple. These are made up by mixing 2 Primary colors together. True Red and Yellow make Orange. True Blue and Yellow make Green. True Blue and Red make Purple.

The Complimentary Colors are opposites on the color wheel. When these are combined they create a neutral color or a nice brown depending on if the colors are true.

A Monochromatic color scheme is when you create tints by adding white to one hue or adding black to the same hue to create shades.

Analogous color scheme is when you choose colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.

Welcome to my site

I feel, like all of you, that I have something to say.
I don't know what,
 but I'll think of something.
I just wanted to share some of the knowledge that I have accumulated
in my 59 years
raising children,
doing crafty things,
going to college later in my life,
teaching college
and
all the crazy things in between.
I still feel that I have a lot to learn
and
I hope I live long enough to do it.
I would love to hear your ideas on everything and anything.
It's never too late to learn!
